Hello. My name is Josephine Karen Howell and I am the co-owner of Little Wonder Learning Center. I am an active co-owner who is also the Program Specialsit that is in the center most of the time, along with our phenomenal team. After leaving the world of fashion as a assistant buyer for a retail company, I stumbled into child care as a substitutuite teacher. For the next couple of years, while I had tremendous love and passion for the work I was doing, I did not share that same love and passion for the manner in which child care facilities were being managed. It was then that my vision changed and I made the decision to invest the time and resources to further understand what was missing in child-care profession and pursue a greater purpose. Since making that decision, I have successfully had three childcare facilities, which allowed me to take things into my own hands and pursue the dream center I envisioned. I wanted to create centers where children and parents can feel a sense home away form home, where a child can attend and feel loved, nurtured, and grow independently, mentally, physically, emotionally, and cognitively. I am eager to get to know you all personally and professionally and have our relationship grow over the years. This isn’t a job for me, this isn’t a business for me, this is my passion in life. This center is “my child”. I value all of you and am here for you for whatever you may need.
"Education is invaluable and never loses its worth. Growing up Egyptian, my immigrant parents instilled in me the importance of learning—not just absorbing facts, but applying knowledge meaningfully. Now, as Assistant Director at Little Wonder Learning Center, I’m committed to fostering a nurturing environment where children can grow, explore, and develop a love for learning. Alongside the dedicated team at LWLC, I’m focused on high standards in safety, staff development, and compliance. Outside work, my husband and I are new parents to our beautiful daughter, Serena!"

"Hi! I’m Ninoshkka, and I’ve had the absolute joy of serving as the Head Teacher for the Butterflies class this past year.
A little about my background: I earned my bachelor’s degree in Global Studies and Film from The New School in New York. In 2021, I moved to Paris, where I spent three incredible years completing my master’s degree in Art History. I’m currently pursuing my doctorate—so if my schedule has seemed a little unpredictable lately, that’s the reason why! I’m beyond grateful to LWLC for their ongoing support and flexibility during this exciting (and very busy!) chapter.
Fun fact: I’m an avid reader and typically finish about 75 books a year. Reading is a huge part of my life—I try to make time for it every single day. My favorite novel is Emma by Jane Austen. No matter how many times I read it, it always brings me "
"Hello! My name is Lauren Bradshaw, and I’m 19 years old. I’m a proud Maplewood native and a product of the MAPSO school district. Currently, I’m entering my second year at Kean University as a Marketing major.
My love for working with children began at a young age, inspired by watching my mother in her own classroom. She’s a music teacher at Maplewood Middle School, so I naturally grew up with a deep appreciation for education and the joy that comes from teaching.
Working with children is not new to me. I’ve taught songs in a musical workshop at Columbia High School, assisted with arts and crafts for youth groups at my church, and helped my mom teach music to some of her students. Each experience has strengthened my belief in the power of creativity and play in early learning.
While working at Little Wonder Learning Center, my goal is to nurture, engage, and support every child I interact with. I’ll be there to guide them, play alongside them, and help prepare them for the next steps in their journey—academically, socially, and emotionally."
"Ms. Elsa is back for the summer!
She has been with LWLC for the past 2½ years, and brings over ten years of experience in early childhood education.
This summer, Ms. Elsa is serving as the Lead Counselor for our Junior Wonders Summer Program. She holds a Ph.D. in Geography and Climatology from Delaware State University and currently serves as a professor at Kean University. In addition to her work at LWLC, she also conducts special classes for the Maplewood/South Orange School District.
Ms. Elsa is truly a force to be reckoned with—her depth of knowledge, dedication to education, and passion for early childhood development are unmatched. We are thrilled to have her back with us this summer!"
"Hi, I’m Ms. Tashelle!
I’m a Teacher Associate in the Caterpillars classroom, and I truly love what I do. Patience is one of my greatest strengths, and I’m always ready to challenge and support my little Caterpillars as they grow and explore the world around them.
I believe that effective communication is essential in building strong relationships with children—it helps them feel safe, understood, and connected to their educators. I also value calmness in the classroom, as it encourages children to express their thoughts and feelings freely and confidently.
My goal each day is to bring joy and energy into the classroom while sparking curiosity and a love for learning in every child I work with."
